Caring for Caregivers


Providing caregivers the education and support they need.


Caregiver Assessment, Respite, Education & Support (CARES) supports Washtenaw County caregivers to recharge, reconnect, and regroup. CARES provides caregivers compassionate support, education and respite to promote health and well-being considering the following variables:


• Physical and Emotional Health

• Physical Stamina

• Financial Security

• Perceived Personal Freedom of caregivers

We offer:

  • Brief assessment to get to know you and your needs

  • No-Cost Respite care to give you a break 

  • Customized education and support

  • Assistance with community resources

  • Low fee transportation for you and your loved one

  • Counseling specifically tailored to the needs of caregivers

  • Caregiver Support Groups

  • Text Talks. Weekly text message program with informative information and tips

  • Peer telephonic support 

  • Resource advocacy


Assistance may be available for up to 36 hours of NO COST respite during a
90-day period. Participation will be limited.
